Ekiti pays N150m compensation for new market

The Ekiti State government has paid N150 million as compensation to people whose property will be affected by the construction of a new Oja Oba Market in Ado-Ekiti, just as it has set a 14-month deadline for completion of the project.
Governor Ayo Fayose disclosed this while featuring on a programme in Ado-Ekiti.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi,  the governor said the demolition of the old market and the construction of new one would start on November 8, this year.
Also, the governor added that the remaining sum of N5.4 million to be paid as compensation to those affected by the dualisation of Awedele Road in Ado-Ekiti would be disbursed this week.
“This administration will not embark on any project without paying compensation to affected land owners,” he said.
