Some residents of Kubwa, an area in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have raised alarm over a refuse dump along Pipeline area, saying that the area should be fenced or relocated.
The residents urge the area council authorities to address the situation quickly.
Mr. Ebenezer Adams, an elder in the community expressed surprise over the situation, noting that: “It was high time the area council did something about it. The odour from the waste poses serious health hazards to people.”
Ebenezer appealed to the area council to build a fence round the area so as to stop kids from going there to play.
Also speaking, Mrs. Kelechi Ngozi, a resident said little kids go to the refuse dump to play, saying that was very bad health wise. “It could lead to premature death,” she said.
Ngozi said the area council has not fulfilled its promises of either building a wall round the refuse dump or relocating it, adding: “I am using this medium to call on the area council to swing into action urgently, because we have suffered a lot.”
