Award winning author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie question to  a former US first lady and one time presidential aspirant, Hillary Clinton has been a subject for debate across social media platforms in Nigeria.

Adichie asked Hillary the question during an interview session on April 22nd as part of the 2018 PEN World Voices Festival in the US.

Below is the transcript of the question:

“You have also made many choices for love, in reading about your life I was thinking  about what if you hadn’t gone to Arkansas very earlier… and erm  I find myself… I should say that I spend a lot of time being protective about you, and in my mind I call you my aunty so you are  Aunty Hillary.

So I spend a lot of time being very protective of Aunty Hillary and when people talk about your personal life I find it very irritating… erm and having read quite a bit of your own writing about your life I think that you have a marvelous love story.

You really do… and it seems to me that you have just this wonderful friendship … erm however I have to say I am guilty of being interested in your personal life and the one question I have about that is about your twitter account.

Your twitter account the first word that describes you is "wife" and then I think its "mom" and then "grandmother" and when I saw that I have to confess that I felt just a little bit upset and then I went and I looked at your husband’s twitter account the first word was not "husband" and I wanted to ask first of all if this was your choice, if this was something you wanted to do or something that  maybe somebody thought will be a good idea for the campaign.

…erm and if it is your choice whether you think it’s fair for me to have been a bit annoyed by it?

{AFTER HILLARY’S RESPONSE CHIMAMANDA SAID:

"May I suggest that  it should say… I think the first thing should say… I think the first thing ‘Should have been damned good president… and then mom and then wife.”
