The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, yesterday in Ibadan said six members of a kidnap gang operating in Oyo State had been arrested by the state police command.
Arase spoke when he led senior police officers from Zone 11 on a courtesy visit to Governor Isiaq Ajimobi in his Agodi office.
Though he did not give details, he said they would soon be arraigned in court. He commended efforts of the state police command, saying they were working tirelessly
to provide adequate security and maintain peace across the state.
“I’m delighted to inform the governor that six members of a gang of kidnappers who had been terrorising the people of the state
have been arrested and will soon be prosecuted. We will not spare any effort towards the provision of adequate
security and maintenance of peace in the state. I must commend the governor for the provision of logistic support to the police command. I want to assure His Excellency and the good people of the state that the commissioner of police and other officers and men will continue to maintain and sustain the prevailing peace and security in the state”, he said.
Responding, Governor Ajimobi commended the IG for giving adequate support to the
police command, which he said complemented the strategies adopted by his government to achieve the prevailing peace in the state.
