Iwobi not sad despite bench role against Swaziland

Super Eagles midfielder and Arsenal youngster Alex Iwobi says no ill-feelings despite not being used  by manager Sunday Oliseh in the two-legged affair 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Swaziland.
The British-born player made his debut for Nigeria in last month’s friendly loss against Congo before going on to make another appearance as Eagles mesmerizingly defeated Cameroon 3-0 in Belgium.
Iwobi was an unused substitute in the first game against the Southern Africans in Lombamba but found himself to be omitted completely from the team sheet for the return leg in Port Harcourt, with Oliseh opting to keep Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho on the bench.
“Although I didn’t play in any of the matches, it was a good experience being away with the Super Eagles, the team spirit was amazing,” Iwobi wrote on twitter.
Meanwhile, reports suggest the Eagles were unhappy they were not paid their win bonus in cash after the Swaziland game as is the practice following a new arrangement of electronic transfer of the bonuses.
“The players were unhappy that they did not receive cash for their bonuses. The NFF have already directed the players to open foreign accounts at a particular bank so this did not come to them as a surprise,” said one account to Africanfootball.com.
Officials and the players held a meeting after the match in Port Harcourt with one of the talking points being the new form of payment for them.
The Eagles will be paid $5,000-a-man for the 2-0 win over Swaziland in Port Harcourt. They received half that sum for the draw in Lobamba on Friday.
They also received $40,000 from the Rivers State Government, who promised them $20,000-a-goal for the match against Swaziland.
