The Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration of the University of Benin, Professor Lawrence Ezemonye, has been elected President of the Nigerian Environmental Society of Nigeria(NES).
Professor Ezemonye emerged national president of the society at its 25th NES Annual General Meeting/conference in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
In his acceptance speech, the president rolled out a strategic plan which is targeted at making the association adequately responsive to changing environmental/societal needs and extending the frontier of international and national collaborations.
Parts of his plans include liaising with the National Assembly for the speedy passage of the Nigeria Institute of Environment Practitioners (NIEP) bill, work with the executive arm of government by keying into the federal government priority pillar, among others.
Other elected as officers of the National Executive Council include Ms Dorothy Eno Bassey, 1st Vice President, Dr JohnBosco Umunnakwe, 2nd Vice President, Mr Paul Akporowho, National Secretary General, Smart Mbagwu, National Publicity Secretary, Mr Akerele Segun, National Financial Secretary, Mallam Umar Anka, National Treasurer, Barrister Loveday Aboneni, National Legal Adviser among others.
