IGP reads riot act on Kogi, Bayelsa guber polls

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase has issued a stern warning to politicians and the people of Kogi State to avoid any acts of violence during the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Arase who spoke during a meeting with the Squadron Commanders of the Mobile Police Force at the Force headquarters yesterday in Abuja, said he would not spare political thugs, including security personnel that engaged in any act that could compromise the election on Saturday and the Bayelsa State poll on December 5, 2015.
Arase added that the police plans to scale up deployments of men and logistics to the liberated Boko Haram captured territories in the North-East to ensure restoration of civil authority.
He said already about 1,000 mobile police men were fighting alongside the military and another 3,000 anti-riot policemen have been deployed in the region to restore civil authority to liberated areas.
