Prince Solomon Wombo, the former special adviser on Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Benue State, has denied tampering with N18.7 billion meant for the payment of teachers’ salaries during his tenure of office.
Wombo was reacting to the testimony of the permanent secretary of the bureau, Mr. Emmanuel Ikpe, who told the Justice Elizabeth Kpojime Commission of Inquiry which resumed sitting at the Makurdi High Court, that the bureau under the watch of the former adviser, paid N18.7 billion meant for primary school teachers’ salaries into an unknown account with First Bank in Makurdi.
The former adviser, who served under former Governor Gabriel Suswam, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Ikpe to revert what he said or face legal action.
“I have briefed my lawyers to give the permanent secretary 48 hours to correct that mischief or I will drag him to court. I will fight to redeem my good name back. He can’t just wake up from nowhere and make such unfounded allegations against me,” Wombo said.
