Thousands of people from the 19 northern states will today gather at the premises of Bond F.M 92.9, one of the Radio Nigeria FM stations in Lagos, to celebrate the Arewa Day.
The Arewa Day, according to Alhaji Ahmed Isa Koko, Controller of Programmes, Bond FM is an initiative of the station to celebrate Hausa culture and prevent it from dying.
“This programme is an initiative made by the management of Bond FM towards unifying all the tribes in Nigeria, particularly those residing in Lagos and environs. There is a calendar drawn by the management of the station that there should be one event hosted by each services, that is Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. The Igbo and Yoruba have celebrated their own day,” Alhaji Koko said.
The programme is designed to bring together various communities from the northern states to display their culture. There will be a display of various dances and cultures during the celebration.
As disclosed by the Controller, a corporate body has indicated interest to partner with Bond FM by distributing gifts to people.
