Cop commits suicide for failing promotion exam

A police corporal attached to Safer Highway Patrol, Lagos, was found dead in his car yesterday at the entrance to Ikeja Barracks.
The deceased, identified as Cpl. Agi Elias, allegedly committed suicide after he failed his promotional examination.
He was said to be among the over 100 police corporal shot listed by the force from across the nation who sat for the recently concluded promotional course held at the Police Training School, Ikeja, Lagos.
If he had passed the exams, the deceased would have been among those to be promoted to the rank of sergeant.
Daily Trust learned that, this was the third time the deceased had sat for the promotional exam.
Some of his friends who sat for the same promotional course were shocked by the incident, saying the deceased never showed any signs of committing suicide during and after the exam.
The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Joe Offor, who confirmed the incident said investigations into the incident, were  ongoing.
