The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Dr. Clement Illoh has commended the immense contributions of the construction industry to the economic development of the country.
He gave the commendation in Abuja at the 10th Triennial National Delegates Conference of the Construction and Civil Engineering Senior Staff Association (CCESSA).
He observed that the construction industry fulfils one of the basic needs of humans by way of providing shelter, access to facilities, employment and comfortability.
Dr. Illoh said that the federal government was aware of the myriad of challenges confronting the construction industry which include decent work, low income associated with freedom of association and fundamental human rights at work as well as issue of social protection.
He noted that the present administration has a new focus and is poised to address these challenges bedevilling the industry.
National President, Construction and Civil Engineering Senior Staff Association (CCESSA), Comrade Augustine Etafo frowned at the soaring rate of unemployment in the country, saying many graduates and skilled youths are roaming about in search of jobs.
