Kaduna Project Officer of the Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA), Mr. OguOgechi has said plans were underway to rehabilitate and empower rescued victims of human trafficking in five states – Kaduna, Edo, Anambra, Ogun and Kano – with prevalent cases.
Daily Trust gathered that the group also carried out awareness and sensitisation campaigns in communities in Kaduna State, particularly Kafanchan, Kaduna and Zaria, against the ugly menace.
The project officer said the rescued victims would be trained in entrepreneurship skills and afterwards empowered so that they can be of use to themselves and the society at large.
Ogechi said the choice of Kaduna was informed by a recent report by NAPTIP indicating that Kaduna and the four other states were the five most prevalent states with increase in human trafficking.
Leader of Youths in Barnawa, NasiruAliyu described the programme as an eye-opener which will go a long way in making the community more conscious of the activities of the human traffickers.
