The Jigawa State government has revoked contracts for some roads projects awarded by the former governor, Sule Lamido, over non-performance by the companies handling them.
The state Commissioner for Information, Bala Ibrahim, disclosed this while briefing newsmen shortly after the state executive council meeting in Dutse, the state capital.
He said the road projects revoked include that of Gagarawa, Bosuwa, Kila, Tsangarwa-Zandam-Nagogo, Tasheguwa to Guri and Gwaram to Basirika.
The commissioner did not mention the defaulting companies, just as he refused to give details on the cost.
He added that the state government awarded contract for the renovation of the governor’s lodge at the cost of N100 million.
He said: “The sum of N100 million will be spent in the renovation of the governor’s lodge. The renovation is necessary because at the moment, the place is not habitable”.
Ibrahim also urged those that benefitted from tractor loans issued by the state government but are yet to pay back, to do so, as the repayment period of four years had since expired.
“Failure to repay will leave the government with no option than to take legal action against defaulters,” he added.
