PDP urged to support Kwara gov’t for development

The Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad has asked the opposition parties in the state to join hands with the All Progressives Congress (APC) with a view to further moving Kwara to an enviable height.
Ahmad gave the advice while reacting to the victory of the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki at the Court of Appeal on a suit filed by the opposition to challenge the judgment of the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which upheld his victory in the last general elections.
The Speaker described the senate president’s victory as something that did not come as a surprise to many as he is a popular politician not only in his constituency but Nigeria at large.
Ahmad said Saraki was overwhelmingly voted for to represent the people of Kwara Central in 2011 at the National Assembly and won his re-election convincingly at the 2015 poll. “It is a well deserved victory and very much anticipated because the results are there for all to see that Senator Saraki was rightly voted for by his people,’ the speaker said.
He said now that virtually all cases filed by opposition parties against those elected on the platform of APC have been thrown out, it is high time they close ranks with APC for the benefit of all Kwarans. ‎He charged, “It is high time we stop politicking in order to face the serious job which we have been elected to do and strive to provide the dividends of democracy for the electorate. Every politician in the state must by now close ranks and work together for the overall interest of the state. Elections have come and gone; now is the time to prove our mettle to the people.
