Entitlements of vice chairmen, secretaries, councilors and supervisory chancillors, who served between 2011 and 2014 in Niger State, are being offset by the state government.
The Joint Forum of Ex-councilors, Supervisory Councilors, Secretaries and Vice Chairmen (2008 – 2011 and 2011 – 2014) in a statement yesterday in Minna said its members started enjoying their entitlement left unpaid in September 2015.
In the statement signed by its Chairman, Honorable Yahaya Shehu, the forum commended Governor Abubakar Sani Bello for approving the payment of their outstanding salaries and allowances since leaving office in 2011 and 2014 respectively.
“The Governor’s order was carried out in September and again in November, 2015 without any hitches. We want to use this opportunity to thank him for this show of magnanimity,” the statement added.
The forum said it was surprised that having been abandoned by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government, which it laboured to bring on board, an opposition party -led administration deemed it necessary to wipe their tears.
The forum said its members and their families, who depend on them for sustenance, would be forever indebted to the governor for the gesture.
The forum said its members went through hardships due to non-payment of their entitlements.
