Ex-DSS boss ejected from official quarters

A former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), retired Col. Kayode Are, was yesterday ejected from his official quarters in Lagos by operatives of the service.
The operatives arrived the Ikoyi residence at about 3pm in two unmarked vehicles.
They were said to have pulled down the entrance door and went around gathering the belongings of their former boss before throwing them into the street.
A relative of Are said no legal notice was produced before the ejection.
According to him, the operatives ordered everybody out of the house before removing the property while those who could not make it out on time were locked inside.
At press time yesterday, armed security men were lurking around the compound.
Are was DG of the DSS from 1999 to 2007 under former president Olusegun Obasanjo. He was said to have been asked to quit the house but was given till December 31 to do so. It was further learnt that Are had before today’s ejection, got a court order restraining the DSS from ejecting him.
