Gombe State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU) has appealed to members of the public to intervene in the problem confronting the institution to avoid unrest.
ASUU Chairman in the school, Mallam Usman Abdullahi, said members of the union are demanding payment of arrears of the 2009-2013 Excess Workload, Responsibility Allowance and Study Grants.
He lamented that despite release of the bailout to the state, they are yet to hear from the government on the issue.
“We should also place on record that in addition to the non-payment of the above entitlements, the government of Gombe State is yet to show any commitment towards addressing and settling the claims of EAA for the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 sessions that have since ended,” he said.
He appealed to opinion leaders, personalities, parents and guardians to intervene and advise the government to settle the debts.
