Until his emergence as the Emir of Kano two months ago, Sanusi was the Dan Majen Kano after he was turbaned by the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero in 2012.
The title of Dan Maje, a traditional title reserved for members of the royal family, became vacant, following the ascension of Emir Sanusi to the throne as the Emir of Kano in June this year after the demise of Ado Bayero.
Speaking shortly after the turbaning ceremony held at the emir’s palace, the Emir urged the new title holder to be good ambassador of the emirate and Kano state at large.
“We appointed you Dan Maje because of your wealth of experience and your contribution toward the development of this state. We hope you will keep it up for the development of our people, Kano state and the country at large,” the Emir said.
Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the Kano state governor on local government matters, Alhaji Yahaya Inuwa Abbas was turbaned as Dokaji of Kano.
Speaking separately after the turbaning ceremony, the new Dan Maje and Dokaji said they considered the traditional titles given to them an honour and a trust.
