“It is worthy to note that prior to joining the Fund, Fijabi has served in different capacities,’’ it said.

It said she had worked as United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Democratic Governance for Development (DGD) II Project and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems, (IFES).

It said she was a gender and development practitioner who worked as a passionate women’s human rights activist over the last two decades.

“She has experience in communications, women’s leadership and political participation, resource mobilisation, policy development and advocacy, as well as inclusion of vulnerable groups (women, youths and Persons with Disabilities) in development and democratic processes,” it said.

The statement said under her leadership as the CEO, the NWTF would embark on a very exciting new phase of growth and development.

“She brings on board experience in resource mobilisation for women’s leadership, political participation and analytical skills in inclusion and effective participation of women in democratic processes and decision-making positions.

“Together, there is a great deal we will be able to accomplish to ensure Nigerian women are rightly placed at all levels of governance,” it assured.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NWTF was created in 2011 to increase the representation of women in Nigerian governance at all levels and address the growing concerns about the gender imbalance in elective and appointive positions. (NAN)
