Niger APC alleges intimidation of members

Spokesperson of the party, Jonathan Vatsa, while addressing journalists yesterday in Minna, said the party’s Legal Adviser, Barrister Khaleel Ibrahim, was attacked by hoodlums in Paiko town.
“The Legal Adviser was not only forced to recite the slogan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the thugs, he was also dispossessed of his phones and an undisclosed amount of money”, he said.
He alleged that recently when members of the party from Rafi Local Government Area were returning to their base after the primary election of the party, they were attacked.
Vatsa said he also received a text message allegedly from the Department of State Security Service inviting him to their office, and that when the Legal Adviser went on his behalf they refused to see him.
“We cannot be intimidated. Just because I said we in APC do not have confidence in the Resident Electoral Commissioner to conduct a free and fair election, the REC invited his friends in SSS to intimidate me. We still insist that if Professor Jega is truly committed to free and fair election, he must remove the REC,” he said.
