Bola Ige’s son, Muyiwa Ige has predicted a landslide victory for the incumbent Governor, Rauf Aregbesola in today’s gubernatorial election in Osun State.
Son of the late respected politician who spoke with Daily Trust in Esa-Oke, vowed that no manipulation by the Federal Government will alter the result of the election.
“By the grace of God, by the time the result is read out today, I’m sure my governor will have nothing less than 75 to 80 percent of the votes.”
Ige who is the Commissioner for Urban and Rural Development noted that no military intimidation will prevent Osun indigenes from following up their votes to the final point.”We must secure it (the result). They will announce the result to the general public and we will all go to the collation centre. Immediately, we will transmit all the information real time either to the internet or our situation room.”So, the issue of grabbing ballot boxes is archaic nowadays. We have already told the youth corps members not to fold the ballot.”
Abduction again!
Just as a former Governor of the state, Adebisi Akande alleged earlier, Mr. Ige said the security operatives have been busy whisking All Progressive Congress (APC) party leaders away.
“I understood that they were coming for me but that never happened. Some soldiers went into the house of SSA, Women Affairs, picked one of the children and one of the wards in the house. But outside that, in Esa-Oke, we have not heard of any other case.”He said further: “But I know that Commissioner for Justice and Athoney-General was picked up. We also heard that two honourable members were arrested. We have been hearing all forms of harassment in Osogbo and Ede.”
While complaining that the Federal Government were using the security operatives as agents of intimidation, Ige noted that “60,000 odd security operatives and other federal government agencies bearing down on the state” was unwarranted.Meanwhile, he said the election has been peaceful in Esa-Oke local government area of the State.
“In Esa Oke today, people have been well sensitised. They know right from wrong and in an orderly manner, they filed to exercise their civic responsibility.”
