Osun Poll: Police ban vigilante, private guards

The state police command has also warned all war-mongers and other group of persons “with intent to cause any act that could lead to threat to peace” during the gubernatorial election to steer clear of the state.
The ban was contained in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer Mrs. Folasade Odoro. The police explained that the ban became imperative to forestall any breach of security during the election.
The police further appealed to parents and guardians to call their children and wards to order and stay out of trouble and “should not allow themselves to be used by any politician to cause crisis in the state.”
The command warned that it will not hesitate to deal with anyone found wanting.
“The police and other law enforcement agencies in the state will secure a level playing ground for all parties, politicians as well as the electorate to exercise their civic responsibility,” the statement said.
