Kano Labour Party elects new executives

The congress which held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) state secretariat, was witnessed by a crowd of party supporters from across the state, with officials the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as men of the Nigeria Police Force observing.
The congress, which was held under a peaceful atmosphere amidst tight security, was presided by the party’s national vice chairman Comrade Umar Muhammed and the party’s national financial secretary Hajiya Hadiza Kishimi.
The new exco emerged through consensus as most candidates contested unopposed.
Alhaji Mohd Abdullahi Raji emerged as the new Kano state LP chairman and Ibrahim Haruna Ibrahim emerged as the party’s new secretary while Hajiya Fatima Umar emerged women leader.
Earlier in her speech, the party’s national financial secretary Hajiya Hadiza Kishimi stated that already the party had conducted congresses in about six states so far and all were conducted peacefully. She added that the party’s adaptation of option A4 voting system has clearly shown that internal democracy has gained a place in the party.
