Sokoto: 40 aspirants pick PDP nomination forms

Secretary of the committee for the sale of the forms in Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Kantoma, yesterday disclosed that the 40 are interested in vying for Senate, House of Representatives and state Assembly seats in next year’s polls.
He said among them are incumbents who want to retain their seats and who have obtained forms to do which he said include Senator Ahmed Maccido and Rep Alhaji Umar Bature who represents Sokoto North/South Federal constituency.
Kantoma added that a notable new entrant, Alhaji Aminu Abubakar-Alhaji, son of Nigeria’s former finance minister and Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, is aspiring to represent Kebbe/ Tambuwal federal constituency.
He said the exercise which commenced last week would be concluded in the next two weeks.
Commenting on his aspiration, Alhaji said he intended to boost the living standard of his people and expressed confidence that the PDP would emerge victorious at all levels in next year’s election.
