Councillor donates books to schools

Adamu, who also donated another 1,000 books to Junior Secondary School (JSS) students of the Universal Basic Education (UBE) in the area, said the gesture was borne out of his desire to assist indigent pupils.
He said the donation was to encourage parents to send their children to school, saying education, which is the bedrock of the society, must be accorded priority by every stakeholder.
“Education should not be left in the hands of the government alone, as it is a collective responsibility of all parents and stakeholders to support education so that children can contribute to the development of our society,” he said.
Earlier, the Agabe of Ugbda-Gwargwada, Alhaji Hussaini Agabi Mama, had lamented over inadequate school instructional materials and teachers at some primary schools at his chiefdom.
The headmaster of Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School, Gwargwada, Mr. Iliya P. Gimba, who received the books, thanked the councillor for the donation.
He noted that the gesture was the first of in the history of the school and assured that the books would be distributed to the pupils.
