‘UN should probe Nigeria’s version of Boko Haram’

He said this is because the Boko Haram insurgency is a contraption designed to tarnish the image of Muslims and Islam in Nigeria.
“What I think should be done is that Muslims should cry loud enough for the United Nations to set up an independent inquiry into the Nigeria version of Boko Haram,” he said.
Oloyede, in an interview with newsmen in Ilorin described as absurd the link of Boko Haram with virtually every happening in Nigeria.
He said: “A situation where everything that happens is Boko Haram is not the best. Somebody used poor materials for constructing an illegal building and the next thing was that it was Boko Haram that went to Lagos for that building. What nonsense! We are sure that Almighty Allah whom we worship would continue to expose, ridicule and make it impossible for them to unjustly oppress Islam and Muslims in this country.”
The professor of Islamic Studies, who was a delegate to the just concluded national conference, described the confab, especially the delegates’ selection process as “a product of manipulation by those in power.”
He said the confab resolutions were mere recommendations which did not amount to any law.
“I do not see the recommendations of the conference as more than recommendations. They are just recommendations of a body set up by the executive,” he added.
As the 2015 election draws nearer, he advised politicians to abide by the rules of the game.
