Spokesman of the command, DSP Lawal Abdullahi, said between June and August this year, 2,219 cows, 1,030 goats and sheep, 12 camels, 82 donkeys and four AK 47 rifles were recovered from rustlers through a combined effort of the state police command and the military.
Daily Trust gathered that cattle rustling persists in some areas due to poor road networks and telephone service.
The police spokesman, however, added that despite the challenges, some criminals’ camps were recently dismantled.
He said the owners of the stolen animals have been coming forward for identification and collection.
He further urged members of the public to assist security agents with useful information that could lead to the arrest of rustlers.
