Home Grown School Feeding: Bauchi engages 3,000 more cooks

The Bauchi state government is set to engage 3,000 more cooks for the National Home Grown School Feeding programme to meet increased enrolment.

This was disclosed ‎in a statement from the state Social Investment Office which said Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar​ had approved the recommendation of the State School Feeding Multi-Sectoral Team for the review of cook-pupil ratio to a maximum number of 80 pupils per cook.

“The review which is expected to come into effect later this month would engage over 3,000 more women as cooks and cater for increased pupils enrollment recorded in over 2000 primary schools of the State,” the statement said.

The National Home- Grown School Feeding Programme re-commenced yesterday as primary schools resumed from second term break.
