Out of the number, 1,023 are from Wukari in Taraba State and the remaining 92 are from Mubi in Adamawa State, where insurgents have taken over.
While those of the Wukari crisis are being housed in Wudil Local Government Area, those from Mubi are being camped at the headquarters of the Hisbah Board in Kano metropolis.
Speaking to our correspondent, one of the displaced persons from Mubi, Rabi Adamu, said they spent two weeks on the road before getting to Kano State.
She said she didn’t know the whereabouts of her husband and seven children as they ran in different directions when the insurgents attacked their area.
“We trekked for days before getting to a village near Yola, where one of the vehicles of Dangote Company assisted us but unfortunately it broke down hours later. I hail from Mubi but I decided to come to Kano because there was nowhere to hide in our area,” she said.
Another displaced woman, Halima Aliyu, said her coming to Kano has made her to reunite with her nine children.
“We climbed many mountains and crossed many rivers before arriving here. It was two days after I got here that my children came and joined me. When the insurgents were shooting from all corners, we ran in different directions,” she said.
One of her children, Jibril Aliyu, said it was just by chance that they reunited with their mother in Kano.
“When we came to Kano, we were told that other displaced persons are at the Hisbah board, that was why we came here. It was while we were about to settle down in the Hisbah camp that we saw our mother coming from the women’s wing,” he said.
He prayed for the safety of their father whose whereabouts was still unknown.
His elder brother, Mohammed Aliyu expressed gratitude to Allah for guiding them through Mubi to Kano.
“Many girls like our younger sisters who were not that lucky were taken away by the insurgents. They paid their families N5, 000 as dowry and forced young males like myself to join them. They will just give you a gun and you must follow them,” he said.
In an interview, the Deputy Commander General (Special Duties) of Kano Hisbah, Barrister Nabbani Usman, said the state government has directed that a temporary accommodation be provided for displaced persons at Dawakin Kudu area of the state.
“They started arriving in Kano three days ago and now we have a total of 92 displaced persons from Mubi in Adamawa State,” he said.
He said the state government has constituted a committee, which has the Commissioner of Women Affairs as chairperson to look into the plight of the displaced persons.
Similarly, the North-West Zonal coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Alhaji Musa Ilalla, said a total of 1,023 persons displaced in Wukari are currently seeking refuge in Kano State.
Speaking during the donation of relief materials to displaced persons, he said the victims are staying in various parts of the state. He said the federal government decided to donate the relief materials to them in order to ease their sufferings.
“We have 1, 023 displaced persons from Taraba State who are now staying in Kano. They relocated from Wukari, as a result of the recent crisis and activities of insurgents in the North East,” Ilalla said.
Speaking on behalf of the Wukari victims, Alhaji  Baba Idris, thanked the federal government for the gesture and called for the reconstruction of their houses to  enable them return to their state.
