Barrister Mohammed Abubakar has emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bauchi state.
Abubakar emerged as the governorship candidate to contest against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming 2015 general election following primary election conducted by APC at the Zaranda Hotel, Bauchi on Thursday.
Announcing the results on Friday morning, the chairman of the state governorship and state assembly election committee Oluwa Rotimi Akinride (SAN) said Abubakar scored the highest votes of 930.
Former Minister of Police Affairs, Dr Ibrahim Yakubu Lame scored 806 votes.
Yusuf Tuggar came third in the race by scoring 526 while Engr. Sadiq Mahmood scored 194 and Ibrahim Zailani scored 161.
Eng Nuhu Gidado who contested the governorship election in 2011 under the defunct Congress for Progressive party (CPC) scored 86 and Orlando scored 92 while Engr Gambo Magaji got 66 votes.
Akinride said the total number of accredited voters at the APC primary election was 2,901 while total vote cast was 2865 and invalid votes were 30.
Abubakar, APC governorship candidate was a one-time Attorney General and commissioner for Justice in Bauchi state.
