House majority leader Godiya Akwashiki and 12 other serving lawmakers won the primaries held in their various constituencies to fly their party’s flag during the 2015 polls.
Based on the primaries’ results made public yesterday by chairman of the electoral committee Aliyu Sani, seven of the 13 members were returned unopposed. They are Akwashiki (Nasarawa Eggon-East); Mohammed Okpede (Doma-North); Yahaya Usman (Ugya-Umaisha); Ada Goje (Toto-Gadabuke), Aliyu Umar (Awe-North), Abdulkarim Usman (Wamba) and Raphael Saka of Kokona-East.
Sani also announced other serving lawmakers who won through contest as Peter Umbucho (Akwanga-North); Bulus Chetubo (Karu-Gitata); Mohammed Aga Muluku (Nasarawa Eggon-West) and Mohammed Baba Ibaku (Udege-Loko); Anthony Obande (Doma-South) and Tahir Alayi (Karshi-Uke).
But Agyo Mesa, representing Lafia-North who decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to PDP lost to an opponent, Mohammed Alkali. Other 10 winners were also announced for other constituencies who are newly elected.
