Students fear for future

Speaking in Kaduna at a forum organised by the Youth Voices (YV) in collaboration with Open Society Initiative for West Africa (COSIMA) the chairman, Campus Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Kaduna chapter, Chris Obadiya, described the recent killings in Katsina and southern Kaduna as unfortunate.
“The federal government must stand-up and stem these killings. What we are experiencing today is not only very pathetic but setting a bad future for the students and the youth. How can you justify the killing of innocent students? How can you justify the killing of innocent people? We see it as a ploy to keep students away from acquiring western education and further impoverish the North,” he said.
A Kaduna based Legal practitioner, Barrister Gloria Ballason, said Youth Voices is determined to unite and work for the good of the country. “There is still a lot to be done for youths in the North. Government is yet to tap from the youths but they keep recycling the old people in government,” she said, adding that many women in the North-West and North-East have been left behind because of insecurity.
