Mr. Ambrose Momoh, the Chief Press Secretary to the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, said Pillay will be in Nigeria at the invitation of the federal government.
The UN High Commissioner will be consulting with government officials, members of the civil society and opinion leaders on the human rights situation in Nigeria, including the Boko Haram insurgency, Momoh said.
The visit will also focus on Nigeria’s relations with the UN human rights mechanisms and ways of strengthening cooperation between her office and Nigeria.
The high commissioner will round off her itinerary with a press conference on Friday in Abuja before her departure.
