Wupa residents appeal for health centre

Aso Chronicle gathered that the community is without a primary healthcare centre as such go far distance forcing residents to travel to a far place for healthcare.
One of the residents, Jummai Akuwa, said the lack of a healthcare centre in the community forced residents to patronise hospitals in Gwagwa or Gwagwalada.
Jummai said that health workers from AMAC frequent the community on medical outreach, citing the recent meningitis vaccination among such visits. She said during an emergency, aged residents get first aid from herbalists before they are taken to nearest hospital.
Another elderly resident, Mr Maikasuwa Abidu, underscored the importance of a healthcare centre in the community, saying absence of potable water is causing illness in the community.
“Bilharzia has affected three people in the village who were taken to various hospitals in the city for treatment,” he said.
He, however, said a doctor was sent from AMAC general hospital to attend to some of the residents, adding that establishing a primary healthcare centre in the community would better address the situation.
“The residents are pleading with the authorities to come to our aid, and to give us a healthcare centre in the village and either sink a new borehole or repair the faulty borehole in the community in order to reduce the rate of sickness and diseases in the community,” he said.
