Autobiography on M.T Mbu for launch April 10

An autobiography of a former minister and diplomat, the late Ambassador Matthew Tawo Mbu is to be launched on Tuesday, April 10 in Abuja.

The book titled ‘Dignity in Service’ chronicled the public life of the late Mbu, who served as minister and diplomat in several administrations for over five decades.

Briefing newsmen yesterday, son of the late Mbu, Senator Matthew Mbu Junior said his late father served the country “Tirelessly and was appointed minister at the age of 23.”

The late senior Mbu was Nigeria’s first High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and he also served as the forst representative of the country at the United Nations. 

“We are proud of our father, he served the people and the country and not his family. We wish we can go back to those days of the founding fathers, who laboured tirelessly for the nation. They were more concerned in working for the interest of the nation not for themselves,” Senator Mbu said.

The book contains Mbu’s experience in service as well as his stance on several national issues including, the fight against corruption, the Jonathan presidency, national unity, the Coat of Arms, ceding of Bakassi to Cameroun by former president Olusegun Obasanjo and his emergence as youngest minister during the First Republic.
