Briefing newsmen in Abuja in response to recent developments in the country, chairman of the (NLGCF), Mohammed Ali said there is need to put a mechanism in place to resolve the matter amicably.
He said political parties have strong influence in driving national development and they are pleased with the way President Goodluck Jonathan, chieftains and elder statesmen of the ruling party have been making efforts in handling the crisis.
While commending the success of the Professor Jerry Gana led committee on the special national convention of the party, he called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to work with their experience in uniting the party saying no administration has faced the kind of challenges that President Goodluck Jonathan has faced so far and called on Nigerians both at home and in Diaspora to rise up to the present challenges and support the government.
The chairmen reiterated the need to grant autonomy to local government administration saying it is one sure measure of strengthening democracy, and enhancing good governance and grassroots development across the nation.
On the current ASUU strike, the chairmen said the issue should not be swindled with political strokes, rather ASUU and the government should resolve the matter in the interest of our educational system and Nigerian students and on time too to enable students return to school.
