Police parade GSM mast battery thief, recover 25 guns

The Gombe State Police Command yesterday said it has arrested Adamu Idris (30) of Jekadafari quarters in Gombe metropolis, who allegedly specializes in vandalizing GSM masts. 

The suspect was alleged to have conspired with several others, now at large, to vandalize a GSM mast belonging to one of the telecommunication companies, and carted away 16 (12 volts) batteries at Tumfure area on the outskirts of the metropolis.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Tairu Shina Olukolu, said Adamu confessed to the crime and will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Meanwhile, the police said its committee on mop-up, seizure and recovery of illegal and prohibited firearms has recovered 25 firearms and weapons from members of the public.
