Rep Mohammed Sani Idris Legbo Kutigi (PDP Niger) made the remark yesterday in Abuja while speaking with journalists on democracy day celebration, he said the National Assembly in general and the House of representative in particular has done well in checkmating the excesses of the executive arm of government.
“I am happy with the achievements of both the upper and lower chambers of the National Assembly, but as a member of the House of Representatives, I am proud of the giant strides of our speaker, who has been focused, determined and fearless on issues that are central to the survival of our nascent democracy. For instance, when the issues of emergency came, the House supported it. And when there was an attempt by the presidency to operate outside the law, we intervened. It is all as a result of a visionary leadership of Tambuwal,” Kutigi said.
