This is just as 27 members of the Rivers House of Assembly loyal to Amaechi vowed not to impeach the governor.
Governor Amaechi, who was suspended by the PDP shortly after winning reelection as chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), is challenging his ‘punishment’ in court.
Justice Emmanuel Ogbuji who heard the case also ordered that the PDP be served the court order through publications in three national dailies.
The case has been adjourned to June 6th, 2013 for further hearing.
Reacting to the court order, the governor’s counsel, Akin Olubumi said the decision of the court is a step in the right direction.
Meanwhile, a statement from the state lawmakers signed by the their Speaker, Mr Otelemaba Amachree and 26 others, said they stand by the governor.
Out of the 32 legislators in the state, only five of them are opposed to the governor. The 27 loyal to Amaechi have been suspended by the Chief Felix Obuah-led PDP in the state.
