The decision, according to the statement was in pursuance to the powers vested on the commission by Section 25 (1 and2) of the Electoral Act 2010. While reiterating determination of the Commission to conduct free-and-fair elections, Kebbe urged political parties and electorates to participate fully in the activities leading to the peaceful conduct of the elections.
The Supreme Court had on Friday 24 February, 2012 nullified the April 2011 Kebbi State gubernatorial elections and ordered for fresh elections within 90 days.
