Anambra corpers still missing

Disclosing this when the  remains of the dead corps member,  Mrs Agnes Onyinyechi Ezennadozie (nee Anyanwu) whose corpse was brought home  to her native state, Anambra for final interment, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Joseph Abu, stated that out of 300 corpers posted to Bauchi State,about 250 have returned home since the hostility started after the election.

He stated that only the deceased has been recorded as having died as if by the oath she took as a corps member to serve her fatherland even at the expense of paying the supreme sacrifice.

The husband of the deceased, Mr Peter Ezennadozie, stated that he was on phone contact with the wife after her attack at a police station where she and others had ran to for safety.

He stated that the pregnant -wife who was roasted alive received third degree burns from which she died 12 days after she was taken to a hospital.

The corpse of Mrs Ezennadozie was received at Government House Awka yesterday amidst sorrow and tears, with the state governor, Mr Peter Obi, condemning what he described as a dastardly act, saying the incident has cast a dark spell on the country.

Governor Obi who regretted that the late Ezennadozie paid the supreme price as a corps member in the NYSC which was introduced as an instrument of national unity and integration since 30 years of its creation.

He stated that the death of the corps member was a sad reminder  that there was inherent problems in the democracy as practiced in the country ,pointing out that time has come for Nigerians to decide how best to achieve free and fair elections.

Governor Obi called on the Federal Government to set up  a machinery to bring the culprits to book, saying the state government welcomed any assistance to augment what it planned to do for the deceased after whom he said a structure would be named after at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Umunya in the state in memory of the departed..

While lying in state in front of Government House, Awka, for a brief funeral mass, the Reverend Father in charge of St Thomas Aquinas, Reverend Godwin Okoye, called on all Christians to be ready and prepared at all times in preparation to going back to God.
