Cat-walk in ‘killer’ shoes and look gorgeous

The name of the fashion trend shoe is called killer or gladiator shoes. Not the physical killing with guns, arrows or any dangerous object but the emotional one that can turn the world around with each step out into the office, church, market or parties.

This is what is in vogue now and it was made traditionally from leather, wood and canvas but now, it is from plastics, rubber and other petrochemical materials. They are easy to walk on especially when the  have a balanced heel.

Queen Obiageri Hart from Da Chizzy fashion, said she puts on killer high shoes because she feels comfortable in them and that was why she  wear them to any place. “It brings out my  shape, makes me look beautiful and gorgeous. I wear them with any dress and believe me they are quite expensive but if you want to look gorgeous, you need to spend money. I wear US or Italian shoes because they are good. I do not want to stand the risk of having sore spots or foot cramps and because of these, I cannot wear them for a long time,” she said

Aisha Jimoh from a consulting firm, said she only goes for wedge because they are more balanced than the pencil heel shoes, adding, “I can wear them anywhere  and I buy them at higher prices especially the US shoes. I do not patronize Nigerian shoes because they are not made properly. At times, when you try  to use one, before two months they are already worn out so it is better to go for the durable ones.”

According to Blessing Kadiri, she likes peep toe shoes not pencil heels, because they are always easy for her to walk in them and she does not make it a habit to get used to the shoes, as to make her unable to wear other shoes, apart from heels.

“I always feel this relief whenever I put them on my legs. I buy from shops and they are  always made in the US or Italy, They are more durable than Nigerian shoes,”she said.

Babafemi Adedoye, a doctor at Liberty Hospital, said the effect of all these high heel  shoes is not just on the foot alone, but it includes, “your body as a whole because our feet has many bones and if you are not careful, you can have a fracture.”

The posture can be affected by making your foot pointed in a downward position placing high amount of pressure on your forefoot. This can make you adjust the rest of your body to maintain your balance and the lower part leans forward and this is not the normal standing body position. Another part that suffers more is the hips. The muscles in the hips are forced to work much harder and longer.

The shoes are beautiful and attractive but can cause harm to your legs when they are worn for a long time. You have to be able to make a reasonable choice in terms of fashion.
