Over 50 pro-IBB groups to join PDP

The action which will boost the membership strength of the PDP is aimed at giving him an edge ahead of the primaries and subsequent contest in the 2011 presidential election.

The decision on this move by IBB’s supporters was reached in Minna yesterday at a meeting of national, zonal and state officers of IBB Democratic Coalition, a group of over 50 campaign organisations.

Alhaji Danladi Pasali, the immediate past vice chairman of the PDP in Plateau State, disclosed that the need for all supporters of IBB across the country to cross into the ruling party, as it has become necessary if their principal must secure the party’s ticket.

“We are now at a point where all hands must be on deck. It is time for all genuine supporters of IBB to team up with him in the ruling party. We are by this meeting, directing all our supporters in other political parties to cross carpet to the ruling PDP,” he said.

“Though we know that some of our supporters from other parties may not be eligible as delegates to the National Convention where a PDP flag bearer will emerge, but they can help to lobby some of the delegates. We are not ready to leave any stone unturned until our principal gets to Aso Villa in 2011.”
