Group requests apology from IBB over comments on Nigerian youths

According to Olumide Alli, the group’s president, the statement attributed to the former military ruler might cost him his presidential ambition if not immediately refuted and withdrawn.

While stating that his organisation is determined to ensure that the younger generation got its rightful stake in the upcoming 2011 general elections, Alli said that “the younger generation of Nigerians have been sidelined for too long as the older generation has ruled Nigeria for five decades with nothing tangible to show for it.”

The organisation also cited instances that General Yakubu Gowon was able to achieve unprecedented national unity through his administration even though he was just in his early 30’s while IBB himself was a member of the supreme military council in his mid to late 30’s.

Alli also stated that his group had decided to establish a presence in all the 36 states of the federation as part of efforts to ensure that Nigerian youths are not shortchanged during the forth coming 2011 general elections.
