He said the project was informed by government’s decision to ease transportation problems in the country by using the railway system.According to him, the new train service will assist decongest traffic in Kano city for easy movement.
The minister, advised parents to allow their children to patronise the service.He said this will save the children from road accidents while riding motorcycles and bicycles to schools.
Sulaiman disclosed that Intra-city Train Service will be introduced in six cities; Kano, Jos, Maiduguri, Lagos, Enugu and Port Harcourt.
He said necessary works have been completed to commence the service in the six towns before the end of 2010.
NAN reports that the minister rode in the designated train with newsmen and officials of the Nigerian Railway Corporation on service routes.
