In a statement, the organisers of the award, said its aim is to recognise business leaders and companies that have excelled in Africa over the last year. The winners would have made an outstanding contribution to the development of the continent, the economic aspirations of its citizens and the transformation of Africa’s image in international markets, while displaying a high standard of good corporate citizenship, social and environmental responsibility.

Commenting on the nominations, Omar Ben Yedder, Publisher of the African Business magazine, said: “Every year, we honour those who have contributed significantly to the dynamics and confident Africa we see today. It is heartening to see these list of successful entrepreneurs in a variety of fields growing longer each year. The quantity, but more importantly the quality of entries for this year’s awards has been exceptional. It is notable that companies taking part in the Awards this year are not just focused on growing their profits, but committed to sustainable business strategies that take into explicit account the triple bottom-line. I think this is absolutely crucial if the continent is to continue its phenomenal growth that it has experienced over the past few years.”
