Why I resigned – Ogbulafor

The letter titled ‘Resignation as the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’, was addressed to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and brought to the attention of the Deputy National Chairman.

In the letter which Weekly Trust received yesterday, Ogbulafor gave 30 days notice in line with Article 14.4 of the PDP constitution.

The Abia State-born politician who said his resignation will prove that some Nigerian leaders can vacate high offices in order not to be seen as using such office to obstruct justice, reiterated his innocence of all allegations.

Meanwhile, efforts to get a possible replacement for the beleaguered Ogbulafor have begun as Weekly Trust learnt that PDP governors are looking for another candidate from the Southeast geo-political zone. Among those already being touted as the likely PDP national chairman materials are former governor of Enugu State and former PDP national secretary, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo and former Minister of Defence, Aguiyi-Ironsi.
