Governors, taking turns to speak, described the death of Alhaji Babayo Goje as an act of God, who gives and takes life at will. They prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for the family, fortitude to bear the loss.
“Certainly, it is painful to lose a brother, but since we have no control over life and death, what is required at the moment is for all of us to pray,” Governor of Kwara State, Dr Bukola Saraki, pointed out.
Chief Gabriel Suswam of Benue State urged the people of the state to stand by Governor Goje and pray hard for him as he recently lost two senators and now his brother.
General Ibrahim Babagida, Atiku Abubakar and the representative of the Sultan of Sokoto gave special prayers.
In his response, Governor Goje expressed appreciation to all those who took their time to console him and the people of the state, saying:
“I have strong belief that Allah gives life and takes it at will.” He prayed to Allah to reward the deceased with Aljanna Firdausi.
Babayo Goje died Sunday after a protracted illness at the age of 42.
