Chairman, Cattle Dealers Association, Sokoto state Chapter, Alhaji Tukur Mohammed, who disclosed their plan yesterday in Sokoto, said they will stop taking their goods to the southern part of the country to press home the demand to put an end to their maltreatment.
He said those of them affected cut across dealers in cattle, goats, sheep, vegetable, yams, among others.
He lamented that every state and local government area they pass through to the southern part of the country, they were made to pay taxes and in some cases, harassed.
Alhaji Mohammed said members pay taxes at the point of purchase and loading of their goods, adding that these were enough as no other tax should be expected upon presentation of evidence of payment.
He stressed that members planned to embark on strike on March 8, unless action is taken by the Federal Government to stop their undue harassment.
Alhaji Mohammed therefore called on the Federal Government to act urgently so as to avert their impeding strike.
