Party officials from the wards, local governments and state were led by state chairman, Yunana Iliya to make the endorsement. Iliya told the governor who was present at the state PDP secretariat in Lafia, venue of the endorsement, that with the unanimous decision that Doma has achieved much for the state, he had no choice but to invite him to contest the re-election, saying members have already given their endorsement. But Doma said he was yet to make up his mind whether or not to go for a second term.
But a chieftain of the party in the state, Musa Illu Mohammed, kicked against this when he spoke to Weekly Trust, yesterday, saying some members of the party are already consulting to come out for the party ticket and are not going to look back at the controversial endorsement given to Doma.
He contested the action of the party, saying it has no right to organise any endorsement at a time when the national secretariat is yet to come out with guidelines for selection of candidates, adding that, “well, I want to believe that it was a mere vote of confidence and not an endorsement because the party is yet to come out with guidelines.”
